This no-bake Oreo dessertno-bake dessert recipes.
With only a 20-minute prep time, 7 ingredients, and a 2-hour chill time – this dessert is perfect for a potluck or to make on a weekend for an easy Oreo dessert the kids will love!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
If you love easy recipes, this may just become your new favorite easy dessert recipe! Not only is it quick, but it’s also a no-bake recipe (so no heating up the kitchen in the summer), and uses ingredients that you may even already have on hand!
Plus, if you’re an Oreo fan, and love Oreo dessert recipes, it doesn’t get any better than this! Well, except maybe these Oreo Rice Krispy Treats and these but that’s a close call!
This recipe starts with an Oreo crust and ends with Oreo crumbs (like in our easy Oreo Mousse), with a middle that’s full of delicious, creamy ingredients like instant pudding, cream cheese, and more to help give it the crunch and creaminess that creates the perfect combination for a delicious dessert!
Is this the same as an Oreo pudding dessert?
Yes and no.
How to Make this No-Bake Oreo Dessert
For the best result, plan to make this at least 2 hours in advance so the delicious treat will have time to set. (Which means for it to thicken a little, so it’s easier to slice and serve.) So it doesn’t take as long as a no-bake dessert, like this icebox cake recipe in case you need something faster.
Recipe Ingredients:
- Double Stuf Oreos (regular or family size)– regular Oreos will work too
- Butter – Salted or unsalted are both great for this recipe.
- Instant chocolate pudding – Like we use in this no-bake chocolate pie. Make sure you don’t grab the “cook-and-serve” pudding.
- Milk – (whole, 2%, or skim will work)
- Cool Whip Topping – You can also make your own whipped cream instead if you prefer.
How to Make This Oreo Dessert
- Place 2 rows of double-stuffed Oreos in a large Ziploc bag. (Some people prefer using a rolling pin or food processor to crush them if you find that easier.)
- Once they are small chunks, pour the crushed Oreos out into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. (Image 1 below.)
- Place the remaining row of Oreos in the Ziploc bag and crush them to use for the topping.
- Pour the melted butter over the Oreo chunks in the baking pan, and mix with a spoon. Pat down and set it in the refrigerator to chill and set. (Image 2 below.)
- Using the whisk attachment on a stand mixer (or a hand mixer or whisk), pour the milk into a large bowl and add the pudding powder. Mix pudding on low speed until the powder is incorporated. Then turn the mixer on higher speed and mix until the pudding gets thick.
- Transfer the pudding into a bowl and place in the fridge to chill.
- Wash out the mixing bowl and whip the softened cream cheese until fluffy. (Image 3 below.) Slowly add in the powdered sugar in to the cream cheese mixture and beat until smooth. Fold in one container of the Cool Whip. (Image 4 below.)
- Remove the pan with the Oreo crust from the fridge and layer the dessert together with the following layers:
– Oreo crust (Image 5 below.)
– cream cheese and Cool Whip mixture (Image 6 below.)
– chocolate pudding (Image 7 below.)
– Cool Whip (Image 8 below.)
(Image 9 below.)
- Place plastic wrap over the dessert and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing into pieces.
Expert Tips:
- Thaw the containers of Cool Whip in the refrigerator overnight so it’s easier to work with.
- Pro Tip:Place the dishcloth under the corner where you want to make the first slice. Leave it for about a minute and then cut and remove the slice. The heat will help loosen up the Oreo crust and help you enjoy this heavenly Oreo dessert even faster!
